Garbage Goals - 4/30/10

- After squandering a 3-1 series lead in the first round, Capitals Captain and franchise winger Alexander Ovechkin spoke to the press about his team's performance. He will no doubt be the recipient of much criticism, but anyone who watched the series knows that he played with great passion and urgency. He was averaging over a point a game, while so-called offensive studs like Alexander Semin and Mike Green did more to hinder their team than help. However, like a good captain, Ovechkin has willingly shouldered the bulk of the blame, and even came to the defense of his teammates. Say what you will about this guy and his antics, he's still the man. I know he's done some stupid things, but he's not classless.

- The NHL has continued releasing more "History Will Be Made" commercials. The three recent ones focus on the performances of Montreal's Jaroslav Halak, San Jose's Joe Pavelski, and Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk. Easily the three most valuable players to their respective teams in the first round. Bravo, guys.

- Speaking of the "History Will Be Made" series, a lot of fans have taken it upon themselves to make their own. Some are inspiring, others outright hilarious. Go ahead, search "history will be made" on Youtube. I dare you.
